Did you know that over 1.7 million children under the age of 18 suffer from chronic pain which affects the whole family’s quality of life?
Here is the problem in a classroom with 20 children, 5 suffer from chronic pain which limits and interferes with their childhood experiences. Those 5 families feel the ripple effect of the child’s pain. When a child suffers, the whole family suffers.
Chronic pain disrupts all aspects of life, including mood, sleep, school attendance, academic performance, peer relationships, as well as one’s self-esteem.
Chronic pain often includes a tremendous psychological and social burden; because children with chronic pain regularly miss school and are unable to participate in activities, they have reduced social relationships and are three times more likely to have symptoms of anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts.
At Bowtie kids we envision a whole where kids get to be kids free of pain.
We provide a fun, safe, supportive, and uplifting environment that engages not just the children, but the entire family to create healing for the mind, body, and spirit.
Our purpose is to increase the social and emotional learning capacity of children and families impacted by chronic pain to reduce the levels of anxiety, depression, isolation, poor self-concept, poor self-expression, opioid addiction, and rates of suicide through interactive and experiential learning
Our Mission is to support, nurture, and empower children and their families impacted by chronic pain, through education and support programming so that they can secure a better quality of life.
